TVCogeco Hockey Day in the OHL is Sunday January 26
Toronto, ON – The Ontario Hockey League in association with TVCogeco is excited to announce details for TVCogeco’s Hockey Day in the OHL set for this Sunday January 26, 2014.
OHL fans can enjoy a tripleheader of action beginning at 1:00 pm when the Belleville Bulls visit the Kingston Frontenacs, followed by the Windsor Spitfires visiting the Sarnia Sting at 4:00 pm, wrapping up in North Bay when the Battalion host the Peterborough Petes at 7:00 pm.
All three games will be part of a full day of continuous OHL coverage on TVCogeco in markets across Ontario and is also available on the OHL Action Pak.
“TVCOGECO is aware of the value of bringing great sporting events to all of our customers throughout Ontario,” states Cogeco Senior Director of Programming and Community Relations, Tim Caddigan. “It is with pleasure that we will present the first ever Hockey Day in the OHL. This tripleheader of games is a fitting way to celebrate the excellent work of the OHL as both a great source of entertainment in our local communities and the premiere development league in the world.”
In addition to all three games, fans will hear from OHL players past, present, and future with a variety of in depth features as part of the broadcast package in studio with pre and post game coverage of all three matchups.
Features include stories from around the OHL including balancing education and hockey in both the OHL and at the minor hockey level in local communities, and former Toronto Maple Leafs forward and OHL graduate Todd Warriner who will take fans inside-the-glass during the recent NHL alumni game at the Winter Classic in Detroit. Fans can get an update on the new arena and future home of the Niagara IceDogs being built in St. Catharines, and meet an OHL athletic therapist whose invention is helping provide greater accessibility to the game for young and old alike. A video essay on the return of hockey to North Bay and what it means to the local community, and an inside look at how the history of the game is celebrated in Kingston, the birthplace of hockey, will also be featured as part of TVCogeco's Hockey Day in the OHL lineup.
Sunday's schedule includes:
1pm – Belleville Bulls at Kingston Frontenacs
4pm – Windsor Spitfires at Sarnia Sting
