Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Jordan DeKort of the Kitchener Rangers is the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending February 16 after posting a 1-0-1-0 record with a shutout victory along with a goals-against-average of 0.97 and save percentage of .964.

DeKort helped the Rangers earn three of a possible four points over the weekend keeping their playoff hopes alive as they now sit just three points out of eighth place in the OHL’s Western Conference standings.  His week began with his first career shutout victory making 13 saves as third star of a 5-0 win over the Mississauga Steelheads on Friday night, and wrapped up with a 40-save performance on Saturday as third star despite a 2-1 overtime loss on the road against the Plymouth Whalers.

DeKort, an 18-year-old from Markham, ON, is playing in his second full OHL season and first with the Rangers after being acquired from the Windsor Spitfires earlier this season.  In 27 appearances with the Rangers, DeKort carries an 8-11-2-0 record with a goals-against-average of 3.75 and save percentage of .885.

Also considered for the award this week was Montreal Canadiens prospect Zachary Fucale of the Halifax Mooseheads with a 3-0-0-0 record including a shutout victory with a goals-against-average of 1.63 and save percentage of .925, and Eric Williams of the Spokane Chiefs who went 2-1-0-0 with a shutout victory posting a goals-against-average of 1.67 and save percentage of .943.
