Owen Sound at Erie

Last time these teams met was in double header action at
Owen Sound.  I had predicted a split, but
Owen Sound took both of the games – 3 to 1 on the Friday night and then 5 to 0
on the Saturday night special. In those 2 games,  Cameron Brace had 2 goals and Captain Halmo
had 3 goals.

Erie sits in last place in the Western Conference with 7
wins and 18 points on the season. Owen Sound is tied for fifth (downgraded to 6th
based on number of wins) in the same conference with 23 wins and 53 points.

Last weekend on home ice, Owen Sound split their two games –
dropping a 6-5 overtime decision to the Windsor Spitfires on Friday and then
following it up the next day with a win over the Belleville Bulls 2-1.  In those games Captain Halmo had 2 goals and
4 assists (tied for fifth in league scoring) and Daniel Catenacci was close
behind with 2 goals and 3 assists (tied at #14 in league scoring).

Last weekend Erie won 2 of their 3 games – beating Sudbury 7-4,
and Brampton by that same score before dropping a 3-0 game at home to the
sizzling Saginaw Spirit. McDonell, Harper,Fox,
Brown , and Cairns were the offensive leaders  in those games.  Devin Williams and Ramis Sadikov with a win
each.  In the last game the Otters gave
up 2 of the three goals on powerplay opportunities.

 My prediction Owen
Sound 5 Erie 2

Sudbury at Sault Ste Marie

Sudbury has 27 wins and 58 points fourth in the Eastern
Conference (1 point behind the Colts). They are having to cope with injuries
and suspensions and will be without 7 or 8 players for this contest on the
road. The Wolves are 5-4-0-1 in their past 10 games. Last weekend they dropped
a 7-3 decision at home vs. the Greyhounds before winning 2 games on the road
(Peterborough and Brampton).  In those
games they were outshot 123 – 82.  Kuchin
had 4 goals in the past 2 games (20 goals on the season) – Sgarbossa with 3
goals in the 2 road wins.  Michael has
scored in 12 of the past 13 games (9 goals and 12 assists).

Sault Ste Marie 21 wins and 47 points – tied for the #8 slot
in the Western Conference.  The
Greyhounds are 3-6-0-1 in their past 10 games.  Last weekend they had the big 7-4 win at
Sudbury before dropping a 5-0 decision at Barrie. In the Sudbury victory Fritsch
had a pair of goals and Alderson and Cousins had 1 goal and 2 assists
each.  Nick Cousins leads the team with
26 goals and 35 assists (61 points - #12 in the league)

 My prediction Sudbury
3 Sault Ste Marie 4
