Ontario Hockey League Game Day Previews Wednesday February 8 2012
Owen Sound at Erie
Last time these teams met was in double header action atOwen Sound. I had predicted a split, butOwen Sound took both of the games – 3 to 1 on the Friday night and then 5 to 0on the Saturday night special. In those 2 games, Cameron Brace had 2 goals and Captain Halmohad 3 goals.
Erie sits in last place in the Western Conference with 7wins and 18 points on the season. Owen Sound is tied for fifth (downgraded to 6thbased on number of wins) in the same conference with 23 wins and 53 points.
Last weekend on home ice, Owen Sound split their two games –dropping a 6-5 overtime decision to the Windsor Spitfires on Friday and thenfollowing it up the next day with a win over the Belleville Bulls 2-1. In those games Captain Halmo had 2 goals and4 assists (tied for fifth in league scoring) and Daniel Catenacci was closebehind with 2 goals and 3 assists (tied at #14 in league scoring).
Last weekend Erie won 2 of their 3 games – beating Sudbury 7-4,and Brampton by that same score before dropping a 3-0 game at home to thesizzling Saginaw Spirit. McDonell, Harper,Fox, Brown , and Cairns were the offensive leaders in those games. Devin Williams and Ramis Sadikov with a wineach. In the last game the Otters gaveup 2 of the three goals on powerplay opportunities.
My prediction OwenSound 5 Erie 2
