OJHL East Division Week In Review
Game Of The Week Review: Cobourg Cougars at Whitby Fury
The Cobourg Cougars left the den and made the jaunt to the Iroquois Complex to take on the Whitby Fury in another great battle in the East. A contest full of penalties, actually 76 pim to be exact, and a game that the goalies will not try to remember and it wouldn’t take long before the goals would start to come. Taylor Gauld would open the scoring up at 1:19 with Jake Emilio and Alex D Oliveira. 9 minutes later Mason Marchment would add to the Cobourg lead. Two minutes later the scoring floodgates would open up, Whitby would score three straight goals in a matter of 5 minutes to end the period with a 3-2 lead over the cougars. Cobourg would respond to the three Fury with goals from TJ Melacon and Alex D Oliveria to end the second period. Jake Emilio would add to the Cougars lead before Whitby would respond with two goals to send the game to overtime. The overtime period of 4-on-4 would lead to no result, and so they went to a shootout. Seven shooters would be unsuccessful before Whitby’s Jeff Murray would pot the game winner.
