Game of the Week Review: Georgetown at Kingston

Thursday night saw the Georgetown Raiders roll into the Invista centre and challenge the streaking Kingston Voyageurs.  The first period saw no scoring with a lot of trap play, which slowed down the game quite a bit. Adam Nanji opened the scoring in second period at 6:45, and that would be the lone goal of the period, the rest of the period would see more chippy play continue.  The third period would see the scoring finally open up, with Anthony Marra adding to Georgetown’s lead with a marker at 2:54. After not scoring for the two periods, the Vees would finally put one to the back of the twine at 4:42 with a powerplay goal from Spencer Green. Alex Tonge would tie up the game at 12:33 on a nice passing play by Brett Seney and Adam Brady. Georgetown would take two undisciplined penalties at 18:00 and 18:49, and the Vees would capitalize on the powerplay with :42 left in the game.  Mason Nowak would put the puck to the back of net winning the game for the Voyageurs.

After coming into the season slotted as the number two goaltender, Alex has won over the confidence of the Voyageurs coaching staff. Going undefeated so far this season and this week, fans need to keep an eye on Mr.Brooks-Potts.

Rookie of The Week

Boyd DiClemente-1gp,1W, 2GA, .937SP

In his only start of the week Boyd was stellar stopping 30 pucks from entering the back of the net. In what seems to be the week of the goalies, Boyd was the top rookie goalie giving Whitby a much needed win. A must watch in the future.
