Week three of the Ontario Hockey League season is behind us and that means it’s time to look at the stars of the week among the OHL’s draft eligible players. It was an exciting week of hockey and great entertainment as we sat in OHL arena’s and watched video of many more.

1st Star – Brandon Halverson – Soo Greyhounds: The rookie netminder made his Ontario Hockey League debut last week going into Belleville and stopping all 32 Bulls shots he faced en route to his first career shutout. Halverson was especially strong in the second period when his team was outshot 13-5. He was also strong on the penalty kill as his team was shorthanded three times compared to only one man advantage. He was named the games second star.

2nd star – Stefan Leblanc – Sudbury Wolves: The Wolves’ defenseman netted 2 goals and added 3 assists as the team went 2-0-0-0 last week. Leblanc had two assists in the Wolves 7-4 win over the Peterborough Petes to start off the week and was named the games 3rd star. He then scored twice including one on the powerplay and then assisted on the game winner as the Wolves defeated the Barrie Colts 6-3.

3rd Star – Brendan Perlini – Niagara Ice Dogs: Perlini notched 1 goal and added 5 assists for the Ice Dogs last week. It began with a goal – the game winner – and two assists in Niagara’s 4-2 win over North Bay and the games first star honors. Then came a one assist effort in a 4-3 shootout win over the Sarnia Sting, although he missed on his shootout attempt. The week ended with a two assist effort in a 7-4 loss to Windsor where he was one of only two plus players for the Ice Dogs. He was named the games third star for his efforts.
