Despite a handful of postponed games due to the weather last week there were still some performances worth mentioning in the games that took place. And so, we will name our three stars among players eligible for the National Hockey league Draft for the week ending January 26, 2014.

1st Star – Josh Ho-Sang – Windsor Spitfires: In two games last week, Ho-Sang scored 3 goals and added 4 assists and finished a plus-4 for the Spitfires. On Friday, Ho-Sang registered three assists as the Spitfires defeated the Soo Greyhounds 5-2 in Sault Ste. Marie. He was named the third star in the contest. On Sunday, Ho-Sang scored three times and added an assist as they outlasted the Sarnia Sting 8-7 in a shootout. Ho-Sang also fired the game winning goal in the shootout. He was named the game’s first star. Ho-Sang now has 23 goals and 39 assists in 47 games on the season.

2nd Star - Jake Smith – North Bay Battalion: Smith went 2-0-0 with a 1.00 goals against average and .964 save percentage last week. On Thursday he was named the game’s first star as he stopped 28 of 29 shots in the Battalion’s 5-1 victory over the Saginaw Spirit. On Sunday he stopped 26 of 27 shots in a 3-1 win over the Peterborough Petes and was the game’s second star. Smith has 17-9-3-1 record on the season with a 2.47 goals against average and .906 save percentage.

3rd Star – Justin Nichols – Guelph Storm: Nichols won both his starts last week and posted a 2.00 goals against average and .938 save percentage. On Thursday he stopped 28 of 30 shots as the Storm defeated the Owen Sound Attack 4-2. On Sunday he stopped 32 of 34 in the victory over the Saginaw Spirit by the same 4-2 score. Nichols has now won 12 of his last 13 starts and has a 27-4-1-0 record with a 2.66 goals against average and .925 save percentage.
