OHL Preview for Tuesday October 9 2012
Pictured is Nick Ritchie of the Peterborough Petes. He is the younger brother of Brett Ritchie. Nick has 1 goal in three games this season but hasn't played since September 27 due to an upper body injury. He may be ready for tonight’s game.
Niagara at Peterborough
The Icedogs are still on the road after being in Michigan on Saturday and Sunday. It would be easy for Niagara to say that too much turkey on Monday plus lots of bus travel in the past few days equals sluggish legs. Good teams re able to overcome – lets’ see what they can do today! Last game in Michigan rookie netminder Brent Moran was given the start – things did not go too well with the Dogs falling behind 5-2 late in the second period and not being able to recover – final score was 6-3. Brett Ritchie had 2 assists. Goals were scored by Strome, Hamilton and Verhaeghe. Jess Graham has been pegged with a team low -7 rating this season (to go with one assist)
Peterborough is having a tough time to start the season. The injury bug has hit hard with at least 4 regular players out of the lineup. They have only one win on the season and have dropped their last four games. NewcomerFrancis Menard is a bright light on the squad so far – with 6 points in 6 games played. Only 2 players on the team have positive on ice ratings – supported by the 12 goals that they have scored and the 26 goals that they have surrendered.
My prediction Niagara 4 Peterborough 1
