The London Knights began their moves to defend their Ontario Hockey League Championship and take a run at the Memorial Cup by adding Owen Sound Attack speedster Gemel Smith.
LONDON, ONTARIO: London Knights General Manager Mark Hunter announced today that the team has traded forward Kyle Platzer and defenseman Santino Centorame to Owen Sound. In exchange, the Knights welcome forward Gemel Smith from the Attack as well as a conditional 5th round pick in the 2017 OHL Priority Selection (Owen Sound’s).
Smith, a Toronto native, was a 6th round pick of the Attack in the 2010 OHL Priority Selection. He was drafted in the 4th round (104th overall) by the Dallas Stars in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. Smith has played his entire OHL career with the Owen Sound Attack appearing in 235 games and recording 176 career points. He’s currently ranked 6th in goals scored amongst OHL skaters this season with 26 goals in 40 games for the Attack.

London Knights General Manager Mark Hunter announced today that the team has traded goaltender Liam Herbst to the Ottawa 67’s. In exchange, the Knights receive Oshawa’s 2nd round pick in the 2014 OHL Priority Selection as well as a conditional 4th round pick in 2017 (Ottawa’s).
