Game of the Week Review 1: Cobourg Cougars at Toronto Lakeshore Patriots

The Cougars would leave their den to travel to Toronto to take on the likewise streaking Lakeshore Patriots.  The first period was a seesaw battle between the two teams, but both goal tenders would shut the door.  Andreas Tsogkas would open the scoring at 7:17 in the 2nd period, while two minutes later Kevin Shier would add to the Patriots lead, giving the Pats a 2-0 lead. The Pats would outshoot the Cougars 12-7.  Cobourg would respond quickly in the 3rd period with Landon Schiller netting the first goal for the Cougars.  2 minutes later Chris Turner would connect with Mark MacAulay to tie up the game. Another two minutes later Landon Schiller would reconnect with Taylor Gauld to score the game winner as the Cougars would score three unanswered to beat the Toronto Lakeshore Patriots 3-2.

Game of the Week Review 2: Toronto Jr Canadiens at Wellington Dukes

The Jr Canadiens made their first trip down to the Essroc arena to take on the Dudley Hewitt Cup hosting Wellington Dukes. The Canadiens would dominate the first period and outshoot the Dukes  15-4. Anthony Repaci would open the scoring at 9:01 with Aaron Spivak  getting the helper. Six minutes later Daniel Harquail would give Toronto a 2-0 lead. Wellington would battle the puck for the entire before power forward Joe McKeown would bury one to cut the Toronto lead. Wellington would dominate the play throughout the 2nd period but there would be no scoring between the teams. The 3rd period would be the setting for some dramatics. Abbott Girduckis would score at 15:47 to tie things up. It seemed that the game was heading to overtime before Abbott Girduckis would snap one home to give the Dukes a 3-2 lead. They would hold on to the lead to get a much needed win.

Game of the Week Preview: Kingston Voyageurs at Wellington Dukes

This marks the first visit to the Essroc of the year for the Voyageurs. The much heated rivalry has not cooled down since these two teams met up in Kingston, the new Duke Dome should be packed full of fans and will be hostile for the visiting team. Both teams are starting to load up on veterans and the race to the playoffs is heating up as the season nears the halfway point.

Adam Brady (KIN) 4gp 3g 3a- The rugged centre has been a bit quieter this year compared to last year but has turned it on lately and is playing great hockey.
Tyler Mayea (TRE) 5gp 1g 5a- An anchor on the blueline for the Golden Hawks has been a force all year, brings size and a nastiness to the lineup with high octane offence.
Cole Bolton(KIN)  4gp 1g 5a- The former Picton Pirate has been a unsung hero on this Kingston squad. He adds size, grit and offence to the lineup.

Honorable Mention: Andrew McCann (WEL) 3gp 4g 3a- Andrew brings a hardnosed rugged game to the Dukes with high offense.

Rookie of the Week

Josh Supryka (WEL) 1g 1a- The Belleville Bulls draft pick’s play has peaked up lately with him scoring his first Junior hockey goal, and this week being moved up to the first line.
