It’s easy to look at stats and name 3 stars in this game. But last week, there were some truly great offensive performances that need recognition.
1st Star – Kerby Rychel – Windsor Spitfires: Rychel is known more for his goal scoring but he tops our three stars this time around based on his 3 goals and 7 assists in 3 games played last week. First came a 1 goal and 5 assist effort in a 9-4 win over the Peterborough Petes. Unbelievably, he was named the games third star. That was followed by a goal and 2 assist effort in a 8-5 loss to the Ottawa 67’s. He closed out the week with Windsor’s only goal in a 3-1 loss to the Kingston Frontenacs.
2nd Star – Sean Monahan – Ottawa 67’s: Hard to imagine where the 67’s would be without Monahan these days. In 3 games last week, Monahan scored 5 times and added 3 assists. First up was a 2 goal performance in a 10-6 loss to the Peterborough Petes. Then came a 3 goal and 1 assist effort and first star honors in that 8-5 win over Windsor. In the weeks finale, he tallied 2 assists in a 6-4 loss to the Belleville Bulls.
3rd Star – Ryan Hartman – Plymouth Whalers: Hartman also piled up 8 points in three games last week on 1 goal and 7 assists. In the week’s opener, he had a goal in a 6-3 loss to the Barrie Colts. He was the games second star with a four assist performance in a 7-3 win over the Owen Sound Attack. Three more assists in a 5-2 victory over the Brampton Battalion earned him second star honors in consecutive games.
