Week 19 of the Ontario Hockey League season was filled with some big one game performances, especially by the goaltenders. Picking three all-star performances wasn’t easy and can say without a shadow of a doubt, there was no consensus. But we tallied up the votes to come up with three deserving stars.

1st Star – Jimmy Lodge – Saginaw Spirit: With two goals, three assists and a plus 3 in two games for the Spirit, Lodge is the 1st star of the week. Despite his efforts however, it wasn’t enough for the Spirit. A 4-2 loss to the Peterborough Petes saw Lodge notch one goal. That was followed by another loss, this time 5-4 to the Soo Greyhounds in a shootout. Lodge contributed one goal and three assists and was involved in all the Spirit’s offense and was named the game’s first star.

2nd Star – Jordan DeKort – Windsor Spitfires: It was a whirlwind week for DeKort beginning with a relief appearance versus the Peterborough Petes. Down 5-1, DeKort cam in relief of Jaroslav Pavelka and stopped 20 of 22 shots but it wasn’t enough as the Petes won 7-5.  He then stopped 46 of 47 shots as Windsor went into Guelph and beat the Storm 3-1 while being named the game’s first star. That earned him the start in the rematch back in Windsor which wasn’t enough as he stopped 31 of 36 shots as Guelph won 6-3.

3rd Star – Alex Fotinos – Barrie Colts: Fotinos made just one start for the Colts last week, a 4-3 shootout victory over the Kingston Frontenacs. Fotinos stopped 38 of 40 shots and was especially strong in the second period. With his squad down 2-0, he stopped all 17 shots enabling his teammates to come back and eventually force a shootout. He then stopped all three shots in the shootout en-route to being named the games second star.
