It’s been some time since a couple of goaltenders grabbed three star honors, and if you have been waiting for it to happen again, the wait is finally over. Last season, Malcolm Subban of the Belleville Bulls won the three star voting and was the first star for the entire season. This season, his teammate is making a push to e up there with him.
1st Star – Dominik Kubalik – Sudbury Wolves: Kubalik scored 4 goals and added 1 assist and finished with a plus 4 in three games for the Wolves. He scored once in Sudbury’s 5-4 loss to the Soo Greyhounds. He then followed that up with an assist in a 3-2 shootout loss to the Oshawa Generals. He finished off the week being named first star after scoring 3 times to lift the Wolves to an 8-4 win over the Windsor Spitfires.
2nd Star – Jack Moylan – Kitchener Rangers: Moylan got his first start of the season for the Rangers and stopped 26 of 27 shots to lead his team to a 4-1 victory over the Erie Otters. Moylan had played in 4 previous OHL games dating back to last season with the Rangers. He was named the games second star.
3rd Star – Charlie Graham – Belleville Bulls: Graham had an outstanding performance in his only start last week despite losing 3-2 in a shootout to the Peterborough Petes. He stopped 44 of 46 shots through the end of regulation but was unable to hold the Petes at bay while his teammates tried to put one in at the other end. He was named the games second star.
