Friday, November 2, 2012 @ The London Knights

Games in London are always fun, for Bulls fans and players alike,  For the fans it stirs up memories of the 1999 OHL Final,  Sure the Knights play in a different building and have gone on to win three OHL titles since then, but for Bulls fan they are the one our Bulls beat for the only J Ross Robertson Cup in franchise history.  Jonathan Cheechoo's 5 goals in Game 7,  is one of the most memorable moments in Belleville's 32 year history.   For current players playing in London its a look at the other side.  The Budweiser Gardens is a great building and its normally packed.  The Bulls only play in London once a year and for rookie and even veterans in can be a little bit of a shock.  Friday night there was 9046 fans in attendance, in comparison Belleville has averaged around 2320 a game this season.

Belleville got off to a good start taking a one goal lead late in the first after Garrett Hooey (3) scored on the power play from Jake Worrad and Jordan Subban at 19:53. In the second Daniil Zharkov (EDM)  put the Bulls up 2-0 with his 5th from Adam Bignell.  But then the Knights woke up and Brett Welychka and Miles Liberati ( His 1st in the OHL) scored 2 goals less then 45 seconds apart to tie the game.

In the third the teams traded goals.  The Knights took the lead on a Max Domi (8) goal at 1:43 from Seth Griffith and Tyler Ferry.  But before the third was over Zharkov scored a beauty of a goal his 6th to tie the game.  Stephen Silas and Niki Petti got the assists on the goal.  The game went to over time tied 3-3 and with the home town knights out shooting the Bulls 32-24.   In overtime the Knights had a game plan and it worked.  They fired four shots at Malcolm Subban in under a minute and Alex Broadhurst scored the winner at 0:56 of OT.

Bulls - PP 1/4, PK 4/4

3 Stars - 1- LDN Max Domi (1 G , 1 A), 2- BEL Daniil Zharkov (2 G), 3- LDN Jake Patterson (14 SVS)

Saturday, November 3, 2012 @ Saginaw Spirit   Saturday night started the same way Friday night did with Belleville getting a two goal lead on goals by Sergey Kuptsov (4) from Garrett Hooey in the 1st, and Scott Simmonds with his 1st of the season in the second, only to see the home team score 3 unanswered goals from Nick Moutrey, Jimmy Lodge and Vincent Trocheck.  Charlie Graham was in net for the loss and played well stopping 37 of the 40 shots he faced.

Bulls - PP 0/2, PK 0/0

3 Stars - 1- SAG Garret Ross (2 A), 2- SAG Vincent Trocheck (1 G, 1A), 3- SAG Nick Moutrey (1 G)

Sunday, November 4, 2012 @ Windsor Spitfires

Belleville finished the weekend on a high note with a 2-1 shoot out victory over the Spitfires.  Kerby Rychel (11) scored the games 1st goal on the power play at 7:46 of the first from Nick Ebert and Patrick Sieloff.  No one scored till 14:56 of the third when Micheal Curtis tied the game with his 4th from Adam Bignell and Scott Simmonds.  Malcolm Subban (BOS) was really good in this game making 33 saves and doing one of the things he does best, winning shoot outs.  The Shootout went 6 rounds before Jordan Subban beat Jaroslav Pavelka.

3 Stars - 1- BEL Malcolm Subban (33 SVS and Stopped 6 in the SO), 2- WSR Jaroslav Pavelka (31 SVS Stopped 5 in the SO, 3- WSR Patrick Sieloff (1 A)

Notes:   Captain Brendan Gaunce (VAN) has missed 5 games so far with a separated shoulder.  In his absence Stephen Silas, Micheal Curtis and Brady Austin (BUF) each wore the C last weekend..... Zharkov's 2 goals Vs London was the first time this season any Bull has scored 2 goals in a game........Belleville hasn't won in London since January of 2007....Belleville Native Kevin Bailie got the start in London for the Knights on Friday night, only to be replaced by Jake Patterson almost midway through the 2nd after allowing 2 goals on 9 shots.......Former Bull Steven Strong wears a letter for the Spirit....Nice to see Scott Simmonds score his 1st goal the season,  Scott doesn't get a lot of credit for the things he does very well, nice to see his hard work pay off.....Malcolm Subban's shootout victory was his eighth consecutive.......Jordan Subban still leads the Bulls in scoring with 14 points.  Zharkov has the team lead in goals with 6. Adam Bignell is the team leader with a plus 5 rating and is tied with Joseph Cramarossa for the team lead in PIMs with 26.....Belleville's PP has dropped to15th and the PK is ranked 4th in the OHL....Belleville has gained points in 7 of the 9 road games they have played......The Bulls have gave up a league best 38 goals and have scored a leagues worst 40 goals.
