The Belleville Bulls have added 19 year-old centreman Tyler Graovac from the Ottawa 67's. It was not a surprise that GM Burnett made something happen, Coach Burnett has said "that being a middle of the pack team with great goal tending is unacceptable" and that he "would be lying if he said he wasn't looking" for help to improve the offence. Acquiring Graovac should help the OHL weakest offence. Graovac is a 7th round draft selection of the Minnesota Wild (2011). He has 21 goals, 14 assists and 35 points in 30 games this season. The 6' 4", 203Ibs. native of Brampton also has 5 power play goals and 2 shorthanded markers this season. Tyler participated in the National Junior Selection Camp in Calgary and has also represented the OHL in the Subway Super Series.
GM Burnett said on the Bulls website that "Graovac brings intangibles to our lineup as one of the league's best centremen in the face off circle and has shown an ability to put the puck in the net with 5 multi-goal games this year including a pair of hat-tricks,". "We've had the opportunity to add a talented, well established forward to our lineup," said Burnett of the addition. This is the 2nd deal with division rivals Ottawa 67's this season, Belleville also added OA D-Man Jake Cardwell from the 67's on November 11.
To get you have to give, and the Bulls need every thing that Graovac brings to the line up. Going the other way is Russian winger Sergey Kuptsov, a 2nd round pick in 2014, Niagara's 3rd round selection in 2015 and a conditional Peterborough 7th round pick in 2014.
Kuptsov was brought in in the off season from the Mississauga Steelheads. Sergey played 33 games, recording 6 goals and 8 assists for the Bulls and was given plenty of chances to make it work, he played with almost everyone in the line up, from Gaunce to Simmonds. Some nights when Kuptsov combined his skill with his size he looked very much like the Top 25 OHL draft eligible prospect that plenty of folks have had him ranked all season. Other nights his compete level wasn't there and it lead to him being a healthy scratch a few times. He'll join the 67's on the road in Barrie and Brampton this weekend and wear number 21.
Tyler Graovac will join the Bulls tonight in time for their game when they host the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds at the Yardmen Arena and wear number 20.
